About
You arrived at the weblog of Geert Baeke. I am the technology manager for a company called Xylos (Belgium). I mostly work with Microsoft technologies such as Windows, Active Directory, Exchange, Sharepoint, MSCS, and more. I am also actively busy with VMware's products, focussing on VMware ESX.

Re: Problems creating a trust in a VMWare environment
by Anonymous
I wasnt sure it this pertained to me as well because this article was referring to GSX. We are running ESX and we encountered the same IPSEC issue when trying to create a Trust with a guest DC running IPSEC on ESX 2.x Removing the Shared Folders feature of VMWare Tools solved the issue. By default the Shared Folders feature is not installed with VMware Tools on ESX so it would have to have been installed knowingly. After removing the Shared Folders feature, check the registry at: HKLM/system/CCS/services/hgfs/start There should not be any information under the hgfs folder if the Shared Folders feature was removed from VMWare tools. If there is, set the "start" value to "4" <-disabled. A value of "2" means the driver is loaded at GUI mode.
